Roadmap update: Jan 2026

Over the last few months, I've been speaking directly with many of our customers about how bookings are managed day to day.
These conversations have been incredibly valuable. They highlighted what already works well with our table reservations app, but also revealed areas where we can make the experience smoother and better aligned with how your team actually works.
While Easy Eatery is still relatively early in its journey, we're learning what matters most to restaurants in real service environments. The updates below reflect that learning, along with the feedback you've generously shared.
These updates are designed to strengthen the foundations of booking management while making the app feel more intuitive and helpful in busy moments.
All of the improvements outlined here are planned to go live during January 2026.
Smarter table assignment
Until now, table assignment has been either done manually by your team or automatically by Easy Eatery. At present, auto-assignment is available only when the whole party fits on a single table.
While this works well for smaller groups, support for larger bookings is essential.
Auto assignment for multi-table bookings
Our 'Auto tables' feature is being upgraded to support bookings that require multiple tables.
The updated system will be able to look for combinations of nearby tables that fit the booking, including joined table groups, while ensuring no overlap or conflict with other bookings.
This update will help keep table assignment a quick and easy process, smooth and error-free, even when handling larger parties.

Table joining and table groups.
In the next update, we're introducing the ability to create table groups by joining tables together. Many restaurants already do this operationally, so bringing it into Easy Eatery makes planning more natural.
Joined groups:
- Combine the base capacity of each table contained within it
- And allow you to add an additional seating capacity when grouped
- Groups will be assigned to bookings in the same way as individual tables.
- They are available in manual selection, auto-assignment, and...

Suggested tables: A new hybrid workflow
This new option bridges the gap between manual and automatic assignment. When selecting tables, Easy Eatery will show a curated list of suggested tables or groups that best match the booking based on:
- Availability,
- Capacity, and
- The fill priority of tables.
You will be able to assign a suggested table, or group of tables, to a booking with a single click.
More descriptive table information
Tables will now include short descriptions such as "Corner booth", "Accessible table" or "Bench seating". These descriptions will help staff identify a table beyond its number and choose the most suitable spot much more quickly.

A refreshed booking view
Another major update coming in January 2026 is a significant design overhaul to the booking view, where you view the details of a single booking.
The previous version presented everything at once. It worked, but as we added new features such as pre-orders, customers told us that a more organised structure would make it easier to quickly review and manage a booking, especially during service.
The redesign introduces a more deliberate hierarchy.
- We've condensed the design into a single column rather than spreading it out over three columns.
- Essential booking info (Booking date, arrival time, primary customer name and party size) remains visible at the very top.
- We've added new flags below the booking info to indicate important information, such as the deposit payment and pre-order submission statuses
- Redesigned table assignment and primary guest details follow.
- Sections such as notes, deposit information and booking history sit just below.
- New sections for pre-orders and available gift vouchers will be added.
Everything about this new design approach feels substantially more organised and easier to scan.

Accordion sections for a calmer layout
To further refine the approach, each section of the booking detail will now be collapsible, helping keep things compact while still letting you toggle the visibility of any area instantly.
We're adding subtle but helpful indicators in the headers of key sections to show critical information, even when a section is collapsed, like whether a pre-order is fully submitted, a deposit has been paid, or the booking has notes.

The view adapts to the booking's status.
The new booking view will adjust based on the booking's status:
- Enquiries will show the Primary guest and Booking details first, as these are the areas used most before bookings are approved.
- Table assignment tools will remain collapsed until the enquiry is approved or the user opens them intentionally.
This new approach helps keep the focus on what matters in that moment and reduces visual noise.

A more streamlined status picker
The status picker has been fine-tuned with an updated layout that's easier to read, helping you quickly update the status of a booking.

Why these updates matter
These changes grow directly out of the conversations we've had with customers and the way we've seen the system used in real settings.
The aim isn't to change how you manage bookings, but to refine the tools you already use every day so they feel simpler, calmer and more helpful during the busiest moments of service.
By introducing table suggestions, supporting multi-table auto-assignment, adding table groups, improving table clarity, and reorganising the booking interface, the experience becomes more intuitive while staying familiar.
All these enhancements are planned for release in January 2026.
Thank you
Thank you to everyone who has shared ideas, feedback and support along the way. These updates are a direct reflection of your input, and they mark another step forward as Easy Eatery continues to grow.
I'm excited for you to try these improvements in January and look forward to building even more with you throughout the year.
If you have suggestions, questions or ideas you'd like us to explore, I'm always happy to hear from you.
